UPDATE: The day after this blog post was published, the MED announced that mandatory pesticide testing of flower will begin on August 1, 2018. See the official bulletin here.

Q: When will pesticide testing become mandated?

A: Indications point that this will be coming soon.

How do we know this? In early June 2018, the MED reached out to all of the certified testing labs to gauge capacity for pesticides.

Then, this week, the MED informed us that they will add a test batch of “Pesticides” to Metrc on July 1, 2018. That doesn’t mean that it becomes mandatory on that date, but that it becomes an option to select if you’d like to get it performed.

Q: What does this mean for my business?

A: In the past, the MED has requested capacity 30-60 days before they make a test mandatory.

Therefore, we anticipate that pesticide testing will become mandatory for flower within the next 1-2 months. To be ready, make sure that you have a lab you trust that can handle the surge in volume.

AgriScience Labs has 2 triple-quadrupole mass spectrometers and a quick method, which means that we will be able to accurately and efficiently move samples through the testing process.

Q: Which testing lab should I use?

A: With a test like pesticides, it’s more important than ever to have a lab that you can fully trust.

AgriScience Labs won national recognition for our high-quality pesticide method before any lab in Colorado was even certified, and we abide by Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

We are also the only testing lab in Colorado with 3 PhDs on staff to oversee this process.

Q: How can I keep in the loop?

A: We’ll be sending out updates as we hear them. In addition, we’ll be having a webinar when pesticide testing becomes mandatory to walk you through the process. We’re always here to help!
