MICROBIALS

​Microorganisms are all around us, and for cannabis growers three microbial tests are most important. At Agriscience Labs, we offer a full range of reliable and certified microbial tests with both qualitative and quantitative results to give you the most out of your testing submission.

The following microorganisms grow under the same conditions cannabis is grown in and are a serious health risk to consumers. Thus, the Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) has required both retail, recreational, and medical cannabis to be tested for the following list of microbials:

• Shiga-toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC)*- Bacteria
• Salmonella species* – Bacteria
• Total Yeast and Mold

AgriScience labs uses PCR technology and confirmatory plating to test for the presence of these bacteria and plating techniques to screen for levels of total yeasts and molds. For yeast and mold testing, the MED established limit is 10,000 colony-forming units (CFU) per gram. Retesting is available for any product that fails microbial testing.

We also offer services beyond detecting contaminates within your product. We carefully monitor Total Yeast and Mold counts and reach out to each client before reporting any failure. We believe in providing superior customer service and we will work with you toward identifying the source of contamination and to develop corrective action plans to clean and decontaminate any required area. This is why we offer Environmental Testing.

With environmental testing, colonies can be quantified, and morphology assessed in an effort to point to sources of contamination. This helps pinpoint the source of the contamination so that you can take action to mitigate the problem before it affects any future product. We continuously work with master growers, budtenders, and chefs in order to better assist our clients with maintaining contaminant-free grows, kitchens, retail stores, and any other vital spaces that requires clean environments for successful production
